Detroit, Michigan, April 27th, 2018 - Detroit’s first running specialty retailer has been named one of the 50 Best Running Stores in America. Detroit residents Justin Craig and Alia Polsgrove opened RUNdetroit in May of 2013 and have quickly built a loyal following of runners and walkers across Metro Detroit.
RUNdetroit provides a comprehensive shoe fitting service to analyze each customer's gait and individual needs, but co-owner Justin Craig says they were nominated because of their reputation for customer service and trustworthy advice. Craig says “you can purchase the same products we sell at any number of stores in the suburbs or online. For us, success is more about the community and relationships we build than net profit.” You don’t have to look far to see what Craig means. Every Saturday up to 80 runners and walkers flock to RUNdetroit for their 8am group run. “We offer a 3, 6 and 10 mile option for runners of all paces” says Craig. RUNdetroit’s running routes crisscross the city including the Dequindre Cut, Southwest and Boston Edison neighborhoods.
The criteria for the 50 Best is a mixture of community involvement, retail leadership, vendor interviews and a 32-point secret shopper evaluation. Craig says “Our team puts a lot of focus on ensuring every customer gets that good, old fashioned, Hudson’s-style customer service”.
The 50 Best Running Stores in America Awards Dinner will take place at the Mill City Museum on Friday, June 22 in Minneapolis. This special three-day event, which will feature conference sessions, organized meetings with 25 brands and networking with fellow 50 Best Running Store in America winners.
